On Saturday, November 10, contestants and CattleWomen met in Russellville for the 2013 Arkansas Beef Ambassador Competition. This year’s competition was hosted by the Department of Agriculture at Arkansas Tech Univeristy. Competition included a prepared speech for the Youth division (ages 9 – 12); a mock consumer demonstation and a media interview for the Junior and Senior divisions; and a written response to a negative beef article by the Senior division contestants.
Senior division winner, Ashton Dawson of Bentonville, will represent Arkansas at the National Beef Ambassador Competition that will be held in Springdale, Arkansas in September 2013. In addition Ashton was awarded $150 in cash and a $1500 scholarship by the Arkansas CattleWomen’s Foundation. Junior division winner, Katie Gardner of Fayetteville will also have the opportunity to represent Arkansas in the Junior competition of the National Beef Ambassador Competition in Springdale in September. Katie is the recipient of a $150 cash award.
